Seventeen Women in New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Mary Ann Fuchs was named associate dean of clinical affairs at the Duke University School of Nursing. She has been serving as vice president for patient care and chief nurse executive for the Duke University Health System.

Dr. Fuchs holds a doctor of nursing practice degree from Duke University.

sandersonCarla Sanderson was appointed vice president of accreditation and professional regulation at the Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, Illinois. For the past 32 years, Dr. Sanderson has worked at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, most recently as chief academic officer and chief operating officer.

Dr. Sanderson is a graduate of Union University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida.

TennysonSharon Tennyson was named director of the Institute for Public Affairs at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She is a professor of policy analysis and management at the university. Professor Tennyson has served on the Cornell faculty since 1998. She is the editor of the Journal of Consumer Affairs.

Dr. Tennyson is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University in Illinois.

johnson-smallCheryl Johnson will be the inaugural vice president for human capital at Kansas State University. Since 2012, she has been the chief operating officer of JVisions Inc. in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Johnson is a graduate of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations from Michigan State University.

baloch_scurich_couple_newsNalia Baloch will share with her husband Beau Scurich the positions of Chaplaincy Fellow and Muslim Adviser at Middlebury College in Vermont. Baloch has been serving as a Muslim chaplain at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

Baloch is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she majored in astrophysics and comparative religion. She holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Harvard Divinity School.

BTHarveyBinti Harvey was named the chief marketing and communications officer at Scripps College in Claremont, California. She has been serving as director of marketing at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

Harvey is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Southern California.

Susan Dolbert head shotSusan C. Dolbert was appointed vice president for development  for biomedical and health sciences at the Rutgers University Foundation. She has been serving as vice president for development at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. She will join the staff at Rutgers on September 2.

Dr. Dolbert holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and Latin American studies, a master’s degree in communication, and a doctorate in public administration, all from Arizona State University.

Andrea Greenhoot portraitAndrea Greenhoot was named director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Kansas. She is an associate professor of psychology at the university and has been serving as acting associate director of the center. Dr. Greenhoot joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 1999.

Dr. Greenhoot is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She earned a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Crumpton-YoungLesia Crumpton-Young was appointed associate vice president for research and sponsored programs at Tennessee State University in Nashville. She has been serving as the director of the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence at the University of Central Florida.

Dr. Crumpton-Young holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering, all from Texas A&M University.

kupperJodi Kupper was named the next vice chancellor for academic planning and partnerships for the Nebraska State College System. She has been serving as dean of education at Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska.

Dr. Kupper is a graduate of Wayne State College in Nebraska. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

AndersonEllen Anderson was appointed the inaugural director of the Energy Transition Laboratory at the University of Minnesota. Anderson is a former state senator and has been serving as senior adviser on energy and the environment to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton.

A graduate of Grinnell College in Iowa, Anderson earned a law degree at the University of Minnesota.

EvansJenni L. Evans was named acting director of the Institutes of Energy and Environment at Pennsylvania State University. She is a professor of meteorology at the university. The permanent director of the institutes will be on sabbatical for the 2014-15 academic year.

Dr. Evans holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

nelsonMartella M. Nelson is the new medical librarian at the Montgomery campus of the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She has held library posts at Birmingham Southern College and Samford University.

Nelson is a graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where she majored in English. She holds master’s degrees from Troy University in Alabama, the University of West Alabama in Livingston, and San Jose State University in California.

seguinJaime Seguin was appointed deputy athletics director at Boston College. She has been serving as deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator in athletics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has been on the staff at UMass since 2004 and previously was and assistant athletics director at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

Seguin is a graduate of Boston College, where she doubled majored in economics and psychology. She holds a master’s degree in sport management from the University of Massachusetts.

Debra-FraserDebra Fraser was named general manager and director of KMUW, the public radio station in Wichita, Kansas, that is licensed to Wichita State University. Fraser previously served as station manager at the public radio station operated by the University of Houston.

Fraser is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in communication.

076314_long_001Janie Long was appointed associate dean and vice provost for undergraduate education at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She has been serving as director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at the university. Dr. Long has been on the Duke faculty since 2006.

Dr. Long holds a master’s degree from Duke Divinity School and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.

criswellCatherine Criswell is the new Title IX coordinator at Stanford University. She has spent the last 19 years on the staff of the Office for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education.

Criswell is a graduate of the University of Dayton in Ohio. She earned a law degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
