Two New Women on the Faculty at Worcester Polytechnic Institute

wpi_logoWorcester Polytechnic Institute, the highly rated research university in Massachusetts, has 20 new tenure-track faculty members of staff this academic year. Only two of the new hires are women.

Chierichetti_new3Maria Chierichetti is a new assistant professor of mechanical engineering. Her research focuses on structural engineering for aerospace applications. Dr. Chierichetti holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aeronautical engineering from Politechnico di Milano in Italy. She holds a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

McWeeny_new3Jennifer McWeeny is an associate professor of philosophy. She previously served for eight years on the faculty at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. She is the past executive secretary of the Society for Women in Philosophy. Dr. McWeeny is a graduate of Colorado College. She holds a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Hawaii, and a second master’s degree in French and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Oregon.
