Dafna Lemish Honored by the International Communication Association

Dafna Lemish, interim dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts and chair of the department of radio and television at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, received the Senior Scholar Award from the International Communication Association. She was honored for her work “bettering the lives of young people across the globe,” mentoring, and for establishing the Journal of Children and Media.

Dr. Lemish joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University in 2010. Previously, she was a professor of communication at Tel Aviv University in Israel. She is the author of Screening Gender on Children’s Television: The Views of Producers Around the World (Routledge, 2010).

A graduate of Tel Aviv University, Dr. Lemish earned a master’s degree at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a doctorate in communication at Ohio State University.
