University of Minnesota Report Offers Data on Head Coaches of Women’s College Teams
The report from the Tucker Center for Women for Research on Women & Girls in Sport shows that in the 2016-17 academic year, women were 41.2 percent of all head coaches of women’s teams at these institutions. This is up from 41.1 percent a year ago.

May Brodbeck was vice president for student affairs and dean of faculties at the university from 1974 to 1981. She worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II and later taught philosophy at the University of Minnesota for 25 years.

Judith S. Young was a professor of astronomy at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Young was a native of Washington, D.C. Both of her parents were scientists and her mother was an astronomer. In 1986, she was named the best young physicist in the world by the American Physical Society.
