In Memoriam: Wynetta Devore, 1929-2020
Dr. Devore began her academic career at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. She then taught at Rutgers University before joining the faculty at Syracuse University’s School of Social Work in 1980. She retired in 1999.

Christa Kelleher Wins Early Career Award From the Geological Society of America
Dr. Kelleher, who holds degrees from Lafayette College and Pennsylvania State University, is the first faculty member from Syracuse Univerity to win the early career award in hydrogeology, which is presented each year to only one scientist in the United States.
The New President of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse
President Mahoney joined the staff at the college in 2018 as the chief operating officer. She is the former Chief executive of Onondaga County in New York. Earlier, she was both a private attorney and a criminal prosecutor for Onondaga County’s district attorney’s office.
Theresa B. Felder Selected as the Tenth President of Harford Community College in Maryland
Dr. Felder comes to Harford Community College from Clark State Community College in Springfield, Ohio, where she most recently served as the senior vice president for student success. Prior to this position, she was the vice president of student affairs and administrative dean for Clark State’s largest branch campus.

Lorraine Dowler, a professor of geography and women’s, gender and sexuality studies at Pennsylvania State University, was recognized as “a geographer who has made an outstanding service contribution to women in geography and/or feminist geography.”
Melissa Holloway Honored by the National Association of College and University Attorneys
Since May 2019, Mellissa Holloway has been general counsel for legal affairs at North Carolina A&T State University in East Greensboro. Earlier, she was deputy general counsel at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and general counsel at North Carolina Central University in Durham.
Lori Varlotta Will Be the First Woman to Lead California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks
Dr. Varlotta comes to Cal Lutheran having served as president of Hiram College in Ohio since 2014. Earlier, she spent 11 years at Sacramento State University, ultimately serving as senior vice president of planning, enrollment management, and student affairs.
Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, Names Tracy Epsy as its Eighth President
Dr. Epsy currently serves as provost and vice president of academic affairs at Pfeiffer University, which operates three campuses in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Misenheimer, North Carolina. She has been on the staff at Pfeiffer University for more than two decades.
Syracuse University Scholar Honored by the American Anthropological Association
Sandra D. Lane, the Laura and L. Douglas Meredith Professor of Public Health and Anthropology at Syracuse University in New York, was presented with the George Foster Award for Practicing Medical Anthropology from the American Anthropological Association.

Rutgers-Newark’s Chancellor Nancy Cantor Honored for Her Significant Contributions to American Higher Education
Nancy Cantor received the 10th Annual Ernest L. Boyer Award in a ceremony at the annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges and Universities. Dr. Cantor was cited for being “globally recognized as an advocate for higher education, a catalyst for social mobility, and leader for universities serving as a public good in their communities.”
