Lissa Jean Yogan had a four-decades long career in higher education, including nearly 30 years as a faculty member in the department of sociology and criminology at Valparaiso University in Indiana.

Titilayo Ufomata Appointed Provost at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana
Currently, Dr. Ufomata had served as special advisor to the president and board of trustees at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. She first joined the colleges in 2012 as provost and dean of faculty. She will become provost at St. Mary’s College on June 1.
In Memoriam: Mary Teresa Noth, 1923-2018
After being named dean of the School of Nursing at Saint Louis University in 1966. Dr. Noth created the nation’s first accelerated nursing degree program which offered students with non-nursing bachelor’s degrees a fast-track to earn their nursing credentials. Today there are more than 300 accelerated nursing programs in the United States.

Saint Mary’s College in Indiana Names a New President
Janice A. Cervelli will become the 12th president of Saint Mary’s College on June 1. Currently she serves as a professor and dean of the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Earlier, she taught at Clemson University in South Carolina and the University of Kentucky.
Carol Ann Mooney to Step Down From Presidency of Saint Mary’s College
Carol Ann Mooney, the 11th president of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, announced that she will step down on May 31, 2016. President Mooney will have led the college for 12 years.

Two Women Professors Win the Griffin Poetry Prize
Two women were award the Griffin Poetry Prize from the Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry. The trust awards two $65,000 prizes, one to a Canadian-born poet and one to a poet who is not Canadian. This year’s winners are Anne Carson and Brenda Hillman.

The Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women at Brown University and The Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership at St. Mary’s College are the honorees.
