Five Women Appointed to New Administrative Positions in Higher Education

lewinElizabeth Lewin was named interim associate chancellor for diversity at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Dr. Lewin is the former superintendent of the Carbondale Elementary School District. She retired from that post in 2005.

Dr. Lewin holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She earned a doctorate from the University of Sarasota in Florida.

sonya_satinsky_uhs_324Sonya Satinsky is the new director of health promotion and prevention services at Princeton University in New Jersey. She was the director of the Center for Health Promotion at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Dr. Satinsky is a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio, where she majored in gender and women’s studies. She holds a master of public health degree and a Ph.D. in health behavior from Indiana University.

brugnoliAmber Brugnoli was promoted to assistant dean for continuing legal education at West Virginia University. Since 2013, she has been the assistant dean for career services at the university’s College of Law. A major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Brugnoli served in Iraq from 2004 to 2008.

Brugnoli holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a law degree, all from West Virginia University. She earned a second master’s degree at Troy University in Alabama.

stephsmithStephanie Smith was named chief curator of the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She has been serving as the chief curator of the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, Canada.

Smith is the former chief curator of the University of Chicago’s Smart Museum of Art. She is a graduate of Rice University in Houston, Texas.

priscilla-carroll-2Patricia Newton Carroll was appointed director of alumnae relations at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. She is the former assistant attorney general of Maryland with responsibilities for environmental law.

Carroll is a 1987 graduate of Sweet Briar College.
