Two Women Among the Four Finalists for Dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia

UGA-University-of-Georgia-1785-seal-variantThe University of Georgia has announced a field of four finalists for the position of dean of the School of Social Work. All four candidates will have visited the campus by February 22 for interviews and public presentations. Two of the four finalists are women.

Postmus_Judy.sflbJudy L. Postmus is an associate professor of social work and the founder and director of the Center on Violence Against Women & Children at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She joined the faculty at Rutgers in 2006 after teaching in the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas. Dr. Postmus is a magna cum laude graduate of Florida International University in Miami. She holds a master of social work degree from Barry University in Miami and a Ph.D. from the School of Social Welfare of the University at Albany of the State University of New York System.

Scheyette_AAnna Scheyett is a professor and dean of the College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. Professor Scheyett has served as dean since 2011 and was reappointed to a new term in 2015. A magna cum laude graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Dr. Scheyett earned two master’s degrees from the department of human genetics at Yale University. She also holds a master of social work degree from the University of North Carolina School of Social Work and a Ph.D. in social work from Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada.
