Trinity College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Hartford, Connecticut, recently announced the hiring of eight new faculty members for the current academic year. Five of the new hires are women.
Katherine Bergren was appointed assistant professor of English. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Wellesley College in Massachusetts, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her dissertation focused on the English poet William Wordsworth.
Elizabeth Casserly is a new assistant professor of psychology. She is a graduate of Yale University, where she majored in linguistics. Dr. Casserly earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. from Indiana University in Bloomington. Her area of expertise is the effects of real-time cochlear implant simulation on speech perception and production.
Tamsin Jones was named an assistant professor of religion. She holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from McGill University in Montreal, and a master’s degree and a doctorate from Harvard Divinity School. Her dissertation was titled “Apparent Darkness: Jean-Luc Marion’s Retrieval of the Greek Apophatic Tradition.”
Michelle Kovarik is a new assistant professor of chemistry. She is a graduate of St. Louis University and holds a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Indiana University in Bloomington. Dr. Kovarik was a SPIRE Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research has been in the area of electrokinetic transport, trapping and sensing in integrated micro- and nano-fluidic devices.
Jennifer Regan-Lefebvre was appointed an assistant professor of history. She earned her bachelor’s degree in international history from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Queen’s University in Belfast, Ireland. Her dissertation dealt with Alfred Webb, a Dublin Quaker printer, and nationalistic politics in Ireland and India.
