Tamara Hancock Receives National Recognition for Leadership in Veterinary Pathology

Tamara Hancock, assistant teaching professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri, has received the Wendy Coe Leadership Award from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. She was honored for her part in co-leading the Core Competencies Task Force, the organization’s new competency framework for veterinary pathology resident training programs.
Prior to her assistant professor appointment in 2018, Dr. Hancock served the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine as the coordinator of curriculum and student outcomes. In her current role, she coordinates clinical pathology in the didactic and clinical doctor of veterinary medicine curriculum. She also teaches various courses on communications and professional skills. Her primary research investigates the learning environment, socialization and identity, and inclusion and belonging within the veterinary medicine profession.
Dr. Hancock received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Iowa State University. She holds a master’s degree in biomedical sciences and a Ph.D. in learning, teaching, and curriculum from the University of Missouri.
