A Quartet of Women Faculty Members Taking on New Roles

Delphine Dean, the Ron and Jane Lindsay Family Innovation Professor at Clemson University in South Carolina, has been appointed to serve as the chair of the department of bioengineering. She has been a member of the faculty since 2005.

Professor Dean holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D., all in electrical engineering and computer science and all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ania Jastreboff, associate professor of medicine and of pediatrics at Yale Medical School and co-director of the Yale Center for Weight Management, was given the added duties of director of the new Yale Obesity Research Center.

Dr. Jastreboff is a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where she majored in art history. She earned her medical degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Kia Dolby was appointed professor of digital communication at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. She had taught at Georgia Piedmont Technical College.

Professor Dolby is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she majored in graphic design. She holds a master of fine arts degree in visual communication from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Amy Laurel Fluker has been granted tenure and promotion to the rank of associate professor at Youngstown State University in Ohio. She specializes in the study of Civil War memory.

Dr. Fluker holds a bachelor’s degree in American history from Westminster College in Missouri. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Mississippi.
