New Administrative Duties for Seven Women in Higher Education

Dana Harris is the new associate vice chancellor for finance and treasurer at North Carolina State University. She has been serving as the associate vice chancellor for finance at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Earlier, Harris served for 14 years as assistant state auditor for North Carolina.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a finance emphasis from Elon University in North Carolina. She is a certified public accountant, certified internal auditor, and certified fraud examiner.

Kathleen T. Jabs was appointed special assistant to the president for military and veteran affairs at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Jabs, a retired U.S. Navy captain, previously served as deputy and acting secretary of veterans and defense affairs for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Jabs is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where she majored in English. She holds a master of fine arts degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Alicia Dorn was named chief of staff to the chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was the communications director in the School of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Human Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Dorn earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication/broadcast journalism from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She holds a master of public administration degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Madalen Day was promoted to vice president of business affairs and chief financial officer at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. She joined the staff at the college in April 2022.

Day is a graduate of McPherson College in Kansas, where she majored in accounting and finance. She holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Kansas.

Elise Scioscia is the new director of Penn Violence Prevention in the Office of University Life at the University of Pennsylvania. Scioscia was chief of staff at Women Against Abuse, Pennsylvania’s largest provider of services for people experiencing domestic violence.

Scioscia holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and Spanish and a master’s degree in communication from Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

Christianne Malone was appointed assistant vice president for economic development and chief program officer for TechTown Detroit in the Office of Economic Development at Wayne State University. She most recently served as the director of community marketing and equity for Trailblaze Creative.

A native of Detroit, Malone received her bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business from Xavier University in Cincinnati.

Sarah Jane Kirkland has been selected to serve as the associate vice president for corporate partnerships at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, effective March 1, 2023. Since 2019, Kirkland has served as president and CEO of the CIVIC Leadership Institute. Earlier in her career, she was a business development officer for Carnival Cruise Line.

A native of Leicestershire, England, Kirkland is a graduate of the Northern Ballet School in Manchester, England.
