A Dozen Women Who Are Taking on New Administrative Duties at Universities

Daphne Hooper, the former city manager of Fernley, Nevada, was hired as the new director of community Indigenous relations for the University of Nevada, Reno. Prior to her 10-year career working with the City of Fernley, Hooper served as the executive director of the nonprofit organization Nevada Urban Indians.

Hooper earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Davis. She holds a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in community economic development from Southern New Hampshire University.

Danisha Williams is the new director of admissions at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was the director of admission and recruitment at Mississippi Valley State University. Earlier in her career, Dr. Williams was director of admissions at Fisk University in Nashville.

Dr. Williams is a graduate of Fisk Unversity, where she majored n sociology. She holds a master of public administration degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and an educational doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.

Karla Mongeon-Stewart was promoted to vice president for finance and operations and chief operating officer at the University of North Dakota. She had been serving as associate vice president for finance. Earlier in her career, Mongeon-Stewart was the chief financial officer at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.

Mongeon-Stewart is a graduate of North Dakota State University, where she majored in accounting. She holds an MBA from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Eve Lackritz is the new deputy director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. She previously worked for 23 years at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most recently, Dr. Lackritz worked as hospital director with Doctors Without Borders in the Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh and as clinical director of the Rosebud Indian Health Service Hospital in Rosebud, South Dakota.

Dr. Lackritz earned her medical degree at Ohio State University and completed her pediatrics residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Sabrina Minor was appointed vice president for human resource management and development and chief people officer at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Before joining the staff at the university in 2013, Minor held human resources positions for the government of the District of Columbia.

Minor holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management and development from Strayer University.

Karin Asher was promoted to assistant dean for student engagement and professional development in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. She was the interim director of Career Center at the university for the 2021-2022 academic year, after spending nearly 10 years as associate director of the Career Center.

Dr. Asher received her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. She holds a master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and an educational doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.

Linda Jackson was appointed vice president of sponsored research and innovation at Virginia Union University in Richmond. She has been serving as director of the university’s National Research Institute.

Dr. Jackson earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership in higher education and school administration from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Renee Hiller is the new vice president for human resources and workplace experience at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Since 2013, she has served as the director of human resources at Michigan Technological University.

Hill earned a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Central Michigan University. She holds a master’s degree in human resource development from the University of Illinois.

Corrinne Tarver was promoted to director of athletics at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. Earlier. she was assistant gymnastics coach at the University of Pennsylvania, associate director of intercollegiate athletics at Stockton University in New Jersey, and assistant director of athletic compliance at Syracuse University.

Tarver holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Georgia and a juris doctorate from New York Law School.

Grace Chapin James is the new executive director of admissions at Washington University in St. Louis. She was director of student recruitment and admissions at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

James earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Chicago. She holds a master’s degree in higher education from Harvard University.

Gwendolyn M. Kea was appointed vice president for business and administration at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was director of finance at the State Employees Association of North Carolina. Earlier, Kea was vice president for fiscal affairs and chief financial officer at Shaw University in Raleigh.

A native of Philadelphia, Kea earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Shaw University. She holds an MBA from Strayer University.

Sara DuCuennois has been named associate vice president for alumni relations and chief alumni officer at Florida International University She is the first woman to hold the post. DuCuennois joined the university’s alumni relations team in 2013 and was named assistant vice president in 2020.

DuCuennois is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications.
