Four Women Who Who Have Been Appointed to Diversity Positions at Colleges and Universities

Liliana Madrid was selected to serve as the coordinator and special assistant to the president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the division of academic and student affairs at North Carolina State University.

Madrid holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Bay Path University. She is completing work on a doctoral degree in educational leadership, policy, and human development at North Carolina State University.

Sharon Perry-Fantini has been appointed vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Iowa State University. She was vice provost for equity, access and opportunity and Title IX coordinator and an associate professor of management at Tiffin University in Ohio. She joined the faculty at Tiffin in 2009.

Dr. Perry-Fantini holds bachelor’s degrees in organizational management and human resources management and an MBA from Tiffin University. She earned a Ph.D. in human resources and organization management from Capella University.

Krishauna Hines-Gaither was named the inaugural vice president for equity, diversity, and justice at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. She was the interim vice president for diversity, equity & inclusion and the director of the Intercultural Engagement Center at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Dr. Hines-Gaither has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and literature from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in Spanish language teacher education from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a doctorate in cultural studies/critical theory and analysis from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Professor of Psychiatry Cindy Crusto has been appointed to the role of associate dean for gender equity and director of the Office for Women in Medicine and Science at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Crusto came to Yale 23 years ago as a postdoctoral intern.

Dr. Crusto is a graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She holds a master’s degree in clinical/community psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Ph.D. in clinical/community psychology from the University of South Carolina.
