Kassie Silvas to Serve as Provost at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene

Kassie Silvas has been appointed interim provost at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. She will take office in January.

Dr. Silvas will be handling the duties of two college vice presidents who are retiring after the first of the year. Under the arrangement. Dr. Silvas will take on the duties of vice president of student services and vice president for instruction until June 30. She is the former dean of career, technical and workforce education at the college. She served from 2012 to 2018. Earlier in her career, Dr. Silvas was dean at Spokane Community College in Washington State.

“I’ve been around here for a long time and I care deeply about our community and the role that our college serves,” Dr. Silvas said. “I’m happy to come help.”

North Idaho College enrolls more than 4,700 students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 63 percent of the student body.

Dr. Silvas holds a doctorate in higher education leadership from Idaho State University.
