A Trio of Women Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to University Endowed Professorships

Graça Vicente, a professor of chemistry at Louisiana State University was named a Boyd Professor at the university. Dr. Vicente joined the chemistry department in 2001, and has been a leading researcher in her field, steadfast advocate for science education, a proponent for creating research opportunities for students at all levels — particularly for women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups in science. She has been serving as the Charles H. Barré Distinguished Professor.

Dr. Vicente received a bachelor’s degree in 1986 from the University of Aveiro in Portugal. She earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Davis.

Jacqueline Goldsby has been appointed the Thomas E. Donnelley Professor of African American Studies and English at Yale University. Dr. Goldsby joined the Yale faculty in 2011 after teaching at New York University, the University of Chicago, and Cornell University. Professor Goldsby is the author of A Spectacular Secret: Lynching in American Life and Literature (University of Chicago Press, 2006).

Professor Goldsby earned a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in American studies from Yale University.

Pamela L. Allison has been named to the Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She has been serving as department chair of the hospitality and tourism management program at the university.  She joined the university faculty in July 2020.

Dr. Allison earned a Ph.D. at the University of Central Florida.
