Grants or Gifts Relating to Women in Higher Education

Here is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.

Alumna Teresa Rolling Radzinski donated $1 million toward the preservation and renovation of Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the campus of St. Catherine University, a women’s educational institution in St. Paul, Minnesota. Radzinski has built a distinguished career in the financial services industry and has served on the university’s board of trustees since 2018. She was married in the Our Lady of Victory Chapel.

Delaware State University received a $100,000 grant from Verizon to provide scholarships for five women students as part of the company’s effort to increase female representation in the gaming industry as well as bolster their opportunities and presence in STEM careers.

Ursuline College, a woman’s educational institution in Pepper Pike, Ohio, has received a $2.2 million grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration to help improve diversity in the nursing workforce. The Ursuline program aims to increase graduation rates for underrepresented nursing students and further diversify the nursing workforce serving the greater Cleveland area.

Meredith College, a woman’s educational institution in Raleigh, North Carolina, has received a three-year grant from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation to support equitable pedagogical practices in STEM higher education. The grant will allow Meredithʼs STEM faculty to take a close look at current courses and teaching strategies to ensure they are as inclusive as possible. Once opportunities for improvement are identified, the grant will provide training for faculty that supports making identified changes with the assistance of experts in inclusive pedagogy.
