Prescott College in Arizona Names Barbara Morris as Its New President

The board of trustees of Prescott College in Arizona has announced the appointment of Barbara Morris as the eighteenth president of the college. Dr. Morris will assume the presidency on July 15, 2021.

Prescott College is a liberal arts institution that enrolls just over 500 undergraduate students and slightly less than 500 graduate students, according to the most recent information available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 67 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“The opportunity to serve as Prescott College’s next president is an extraordinary honor,” said Dr. Morris. “It is a privilege to lead a faculty and staff who are dedicated to innovative, experiential, student-driven education. I am committed to the college’s mission to encourage students to become community-minded change agents striving to create a more just, humane, and sustainable world.”

Dr. Morris currently serves as associate vice provost and associate vice chancellor for academic affairs for the State University System of New York. Prior to her current role at SUNY, Dr. Morris served as president of SUNY Oneonta, a regional, comprehensive, student-centered university located in central New York State. Earlier, she spent 15 years on the faculty at the University of Redlands in California.

Dr. Morris is a graduate of San Diego State University, where she majored in political science. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
