Eight Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Miranda McCall has been named assistant vice provost and director of the Karsh Office of Undergraduate Financial Support. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis. Prior to being named interim director, she was senior associate director with the responsibility of supervising the counseling staff.

McCall holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Rose Mercier was appointed director of human resources at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. For the past seven years, she was human resources manager at the Allegis Group, a privately-held staffing company headquartered in Hanover, Maryland.

Mercier is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University. She earned a master’s degree in human resources development from McDaniel College.

Victoria Jueds, has been appointed director of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, effective in August. Since 2017, Jueds has served as head of school at Westtown School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a college preparatory day and boarding school. Prior to leading Westtown, she served for 10 years in a variety of roles at Princeton University, rising to senior associate dean of undergraduate students.

Jueds is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in history and literature. She holds a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.

M. Grace Calhoun was appointed vice president of athletics and recreation at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, beginning April 19. She has been serving as director of athletics and recreation at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Calhoun graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 1992 with a degree in electrical engineering. She earned an MBA at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in exercise and sports science and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Florida.

Lisa Miller has been named interim vice president of enrollment management and university relations at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Since 2019, she has worked as a high school guidance counselor. Earlier, she was chief communications officer at the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Laraine Davis will serve as vice president for community and government relations at Maryville University in St. Louis, beginning April 15. She had a 17-year career as an executive for Wells Fargo Advisors working in government and industry relations and community relations.

Davis is a graduate of Maryville University, where she majored in psychology.

Stacy Pardue was appointed chaplain at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Pardue previously served in the role from 2010 to 2016 16 before moving to Athens, Georgia, to pursue nonprofit and ministry work.

Pardue is a graduate of Yale University, where she majored in political science. She holds a master’s degree in theology from the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, Massachusetts.

Amanda Volkert is the new executive director of Health and Wellness Services at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Volkert spent more than three years at Lehigh Valley Health Network, most recently as an RN disability case manager.

Volkert earned a bachelor’s degree in animal biotechnology from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in forensic nursing from Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts.
