Five Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Julie Jordan was named vice president for research and economic development at Mississippi State University. She has served in the position on an interim basis since July 2019. Earlier, Dr. Jordan was associate vice president for international programs and executive director of the university’s International Institute.

Dr. Jordan holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a master’s degree in education technology from Mississippi State University. She earned a Ph.D. in international development from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Ashley Irvin was appointed director of marketing and communications at Xavier University in New Orleans. She joined the university in 2018 and has served as acting director since April. Earlier, she was a communications officer for the City of New Orleans.

Irvin holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Loyola University in New Orleans and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.

Adriana Lau was promoted to controller and director of related entities in the Office of Administration and Planning at the Borough of Manhattan Community College of the City University of New York. She had been serving as associate director of financial reporting in the Office of the University Controller.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in finance and management information systems at the University at Albany of the State University of New York System, Lau earned an MBA in finance at Pace University in New York.

Claudia Grant was appointed director of sponsored projects at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. She was an administrator at the University of Florida’s Museum of Natural History.

Dr. Grant is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where she majored in art history. She earned a master’s degree in art history and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Florida.

Maria Anguiano has been named executive vice president of Learning Enterprise at Arizona State University. She joined the university in 2018 as senior vice president of enterprise strategy and planning. Earlier, she was vice chancellor of planning and budget at the University of California, Riverside.

A graduate of Claremont McKenna College, Anguiano earned bachelor’s degrees in economics-accounting and Spanish. She holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
