A Novel Approach to Help Fight Sexual Assault on College Campuses

Sexual assault on college campuses continues to be a huge problem. The University of New Mexico is a taking a novel approach to help protect women students on campus.

The university is offering free coasters that women can take to bars, parties, and restaurants. The coasters afford users the ability to test their drinks for gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and ketamine, two substances that are used to incapacitate women by rapists. The university distributes the test kits to students free of charge.

The coasters were developed by Drink Safe Technologies of Tallahassee, Florida.
