Katrin Wesner-Harts Is the New President of the American College Health Association

Katrin Wesner-Harts, director of the Abrons Student Health Center at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, was elected president of the board of directors of the American College Health Association. For nearly a century, the association has served as the voice for student health and wellness, advocating for issues that impact the health and wellness of the nation’s college students. Representing more than 1,100 institutions of higher education, the organization serves as a resource for professional development and efforts toward creating a culture of wellness on college campuses.

A member of the American College Health Association since 1995, Dr. Wesner-Harts is a past president of the Southern College Health Association. She notes that “the opportunities that I have been afforded through continuing education and as a volunteer leader have helped shape the professional I am today. I am humbled by the opportunity to give back to the field of college health and serve as president when conversations about health and well-being are so present on campuses across the country.”

Prior to joining the staff at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2007, Dr. Wesner-Harts spent 18 years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where she served as associate director of the Student Health Center.

Dr. Wesner-Harts holds a bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She earned a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an educational doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
