In Memoriam: Heidi Dvinge

Heidi Dvinge, an asssistant profesor in the department of biomolecular chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, died late last month. She joined the faculy at the university in 2017.

Dr. Dvinge’s research program was dedicated to understanding how aberrant RNA processing contributes to diseases such as cancer, and how these changes might be exploited to allow new therapies.

Catherine Fox professor of biomolecular chemistry said of Dr. Dvinge: “Her exuberance never came off as self-involved, but rather as an experience she was inviting you to share. She was a wonderful and inspiring young scientist that I will always be grateful was my colleague, even if it was for too short a time.”

Dr. Dvinge held bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. She earned a Ph.D. at the European Bioinformatics Institute of the University of Cambridge in England. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
