Five Women Faculty Members Who Have Been Appointed to New Positions at Colleges and Universities

Stephania Cormier, who holds the Wiener Endowed Chair in the department of biological sciences, and serves as a professor in the department of comparative biomedical sciences at the School of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University, was given the added duties as associate vice president for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at the university.

Dr. Cormier is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she double majored in biology and chemistry. She earned a Ph.D. at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.

Charity Gordon is a new clinical assistant professor of middle and secondary education in the College of Education and Human Development from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Dr. Gordon is a graduate of the Montgomery, Alabama, campus of Auburn University, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in secondary education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a Ph.D. in teaching and learning at Georgia State University.

Claire Montialoux is a new assistant professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research is focused on policies aimed at reducing deep-rooted inequalities in the labor market, with a particular focus on minimum wages and racial-earnings gaps.

Dr. Montialoux holds a Ph.D. from the Center for Research in Economics and Statistics of the French National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies.

Lorena Ojeda Dávila was named Mexico studies chair at the Latin American and Iberian Institute of the University of New Mexico. She has been serving as a tenured faculty member at Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo in Mexico.

Dr. Ojeda Dávila holds a master’s degree in Latin American studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla, Spain.

Olivia Aguilar was appointed associate professor of environmental studies at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She will also serve as the Leslie and Sarah Miller Director of the Miller Worley Center for the Environment at the college. Earlier, she taught in the McPhail Center for Environmental Studies at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Dr.  Aguilar holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in horticultural science from Texas A&M University. She earned a Ph.D. in natural resources at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
