Eight Women Who Are Taking on New Administrative Duties at Colleges and Universities

Iessa Sutton was appointed campus operation officer for Berkeley College’s Newark, New Jersey, location. She has been on the staff at the college since 2012 serving as senior director of career services and campus operating officer at the Brooklyn location.

Sutton is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher educational administration.

Sarah Dehring is the new director of athletics at Alma College in Michigan. She has been serving as interim athletics director since June and previously was associate athletic director and senior woman administrator. Dehring came to Alma College in 2011 as head volleyball coach.

Dehring holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and a master’s degree in counseling from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Charity Seaborn was appointed interim Title IX coordinator at Roosevelt University in Chicago. She had been serving as director of student rights and responsibilities at the university.

Seaborn is a graduate of the University of California, where she majored in international studies. She holds a master’s degree in higher education student affairs from Indiana University. She currently is enrolled at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Kacie Lucchini Butcher is the new director of the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Public History Project. The broad intent of the project is to ensure that all students and alumni are aware of the full history of the university, including the accomplishments of campus community members from marginalized populations whose stories previously may have been hidden or not widely known.

Butcher earned a bachelor’s degree in art history from Augsburg University in Minneapolis. She holds a master’s degree in heritage studies and public history from the University of Minnesota.

Melissa A. Weber was named curator of the Hogan Jazz Archive, the research center for the study of New Orleans jazz and related musical genres at Tulane University. The archive is part of the Special Collections division of the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. Weber was previously program manager of the Newcomb-Tulane College Office of Academic Programs.

Weber is a master’s degree student in musicology at Tulane University.

Madeline Sayet was named executive director of the Yale Indigenous Performing Arts Program. Sayet has a long-standing relationship with the program, having directed the first two years of readings of the work of the winners of the Young Native Storyteller’s Contest.

Sayet holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She holds a master’s degree from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University, and a master’s degree in Shakespeare and creativity from The Shakespeare Institute in England.

Patricia A. Perillo is the new vice president for student affairs at the University of Maryland, College Park. She held the same title at Virginia Tech. Prior to Virginia Tech, Dr. Perillo served as associate dean of students at Davidson College in North Carolina and assistant vice president for student affairs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Dr. Perillo holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Delaware. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland.

Renell Wynn has been hired as vice president for communications at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She previously held administrative positions at the University of Denver, George Mason University in Virginia, and The College of William & Mary in Virginia.

Wynn earned a bachelor of arts in English and mass communication at Spelman College in Atlanta, and an MBA at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.
