Colleges and Universities Across the Nation Announce the Appointment of Women to Administrative Posts

Kathi Dantley Warren has been promoted to vice president for development and alumni relations at Rice University in Houston. She was the university’s associate vice president of development.

Warren is a summa cum laude graduate of Hampton University in Virginia, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in cell and molecular biology and microbiology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Jill Tincher has been named executive director of the Sponsored Projects Administration at the University of Georgia. She was the executive director of the Office of Research Administration at the University of Miami.

Tincher is a graduate of Florida International University where she majored in public relations/marketing. She holds an MBA from the University of Miami.

Anne Prestamo has been named president of the board of directors of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries. She is the dean of libraries at Florida International University.

Dr. Prestamo is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio, where she earned a bachelor of music degree in cello and piano performance. She holds a master of library and information science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a doctorate in instructional technology from Oklahoma State University.

Alicia Wilson has been named vice president for economic development for Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore. She currently serves as senior vice president of impact investments and senior legal counsel for Port Covington Impact Investments, as well as vice president of community affairs and legal advisor for Sagamore Development Company.

Wilson is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County where she majored in political science. She holds a law degree from the University of Maryland.

Paola Lopez has been named director of the Day-Massolo Center at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. She was a diversity officer at the University of Oklahoma.

Lopez holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in human relations with a focus on human resource diversity and development both from the University of Oklahoma.

Shirley A. Friar has been named chief of staff at Tuskegee University in Alabama. Most recently, she served as a senior advisor for Excelencia in Education, a higher education research and policy-oriented organization in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Friar is a graduate of the University of Santa Clara in California, where she majored in commerce. She holds an MBA from the University of Washington and a doctoral degree in accounting with minors in information systems, statistics, and decision sciences from the University of Texas.

Donna J. Howard has been named vice president for institutional advancement and executive director for the Morgan State University Foundation in Baltimore. She had been serving as interim vice president and previously served as assistant vice president for development at Morgan State.

Howard is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she majored in nonprofit marketing.

Erica Moore has been named director of the American Indian Student Center at South Dakota State University. She was chief academic officer at Lower Brule Community College in South Dakota.

Dr. Moore is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she majored in history. She holds a master’s degree in history from the American Military University and a doctorate from Northcentral University.

Rosemary Thackeray has been named assistant to the president for planning and assessment at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She currently serves as associate dean in the BYU College of Life Sciences.

Dr. Thackeray is a graduate of Utah State University. She holds a master’s degree and doctorate both from the University of Utah.

Virginia Teachey has been named vice chancellor for finance and administration at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She was assistant dean for finance and business management in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University.

Teachey is a graduate of Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, where she majored in business administration. She holds an MBA from Anderson University.

Mary French has been named university registrar at Boston College. She was the director of academic services in the college’s Office of Student Services.

French is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she majored in economics. She holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Boston College.

Deka Dancil has been named manager of bias response and education at Syracuse University in New York. She was director of teen programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse.

Dancil is a graduate of Syracuse University where she majored in policy studies.

Karen Engelbourg has been named senior vice president for development and alumni relations at Boston University. She currently serves as the university’s vice president for development.

Engelbourg is a graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where she majored in history.

Anette Karlsson has been named chancellor of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott Campus in Arizona. She currently serves as dean of the Washkewicz College of Engineering at Cleveland State University.

Dr. Karlsson holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree both in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Linkoping in Sweden, and a doctorate in engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
