Four Women Who Have Been Appointed to Dean Posts at State Universities

Elizabeth Kronk Warner has been named the first woman dean of the S. J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. Currently, she serves as the associate dean of academic affairs, professor, and director of the Tribal Law and Government Center at the School of Law at the University of Kansas.

Professor Kronk Warner is a graduate of Cornell University where she majored in communication. She holds a law degree from the University of Michigan.

Verna L. Williams has been named the first African American dean of the College of Law at the University of Cincinnati. She has been serving as interim dean and the Nippert Professor of Law since May 2017.

Professor Williams is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in Spanish. She holds a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.

Mei Wei has been named dean of the Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University. She currently serves as the associate dean for research and graduate education in the School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Wei is a graduate of Shenyang University of Technology in China where she majored in metallurgy materials and engineering. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in materials science and engineering from the University of New South Wales in Australia.

Tamara Brown has been named executive dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of North Texas. She previously served as interim dean of the graduate college at Prairie View A&M University in Texas.

Dr. Brown holds a master of divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore Kentucky, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois.
