A Pair of Women Scholars Appointed to Positions as Deans at Universities in New England

Juli Wade was appointed dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut. The college is the largest academic unit at the university with nearly 10,000 undergraduate students, 1,700 graduate students, and 750 faculty members. Dr. Wade will begin her new role in July.

Dr. Wade has been serving as associate provost for faculty and academic staff development at Michigan State University. She has served in administrative posts at Michigan State University since 2010 and served a chair of the department of psychology for seven years. She joined the faculty at Michigan State in 1995.

Dr. Wade is an associate editor of the journal Hormones and Behavior. She is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Texas.

Anne P. Massey was named the next dean of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. When she takes on her new duties in August, Dr. Massey will be the first woamn to serve as dean of the business school.

Dr. Massey currently serves as a professor and holds the Ruth L. Nelson Chair of Business at the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Earlier, she served for 22 years on the faculty at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. There, she was a co-founder of the Center for Excellence for Women in Technology.

Dr. Massey holds a bachelor’s degree in management, a master’s degree in industrial engineering, and a Ph.D. in decision sciences, all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
