In Memoriam: Mary Elizabeth Tindle, 1929-2018

Mary Elizabeth Tindle, associate professor of health, human performance and recreation emerita at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, died last month in her apartment at Lake Shore Estates in Waco after a lengthy illness. She was 89 years old.

A native of Oceola, Texas, Tindle earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Baylor University. She joined the faculty at the university in 1955. She taught at Baylor for 42 years until her retirement in 1997.

During her long tenure on the faculty at Baylor, Tindle was a strong advocate for increasing opportunities for women in athletics at the university.
