Marta Meana Will Lead the University of Nevada, Las Vegas

The board of regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education has appointed Marta Meana as acting president of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, effective July 1.

In accepting her new duties, Professor Meana said that “I’ve been privileged to be part of the UNLV community for more than 20 years and I’m honored to serve as acting president during this transition period for the university. UNLV has a deep pool of leadership talent, and I look forward to working with partners on and off campus to continue to move the university forward.”

In 2014, Dr. Meana was named dean of the Honors College at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. She had been serving as interim dean since July 2012 and has been on the psychology department faculty at the university since 1997.

Professor Meana holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from McGill University in Montreal. She did postdoctoral research in women’s health at the University of Toronto. She is the author of Sexual Dysfunction in Women (Hogrefe Publishing, 2012).
