Marianna Colvin Named the 2018 Social Work Educator of the Year

Marianna Colvin, an assistant professor in the Phyllis Harvey Sandler School of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University, was named the 2018 Social Work Educator of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers. She is being honored for “outstanding contributions in social work education in the areas of teaching, research, and service.”

Dr. Colvin combines network analysis and qualitative methods to examine inter-organizational human service delivery systems related to vulnerable children and families. In accepting the award, Dr. Colvin stated that “being a social work educator is one of the joys of my life. I’m so lucky to interact daily with the creative and bold minds of new students entering the profession and am sincerely grateful for this honor.”

Dr. Colvin earned a master of social work degree at the University of Alabama. She holds a Ph.D. in social work from the University of Georgia.
