Jinliu Wang Appointed Interim President at the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute

The State University of New York board of trustees has named Jinliu Wang as interim president of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute. SUNY Poly has campuses in Albany and Marcy, near the city of Utica.

SUNY Poly enrolls about 2,000 undergraduate students and nearly 700 graduate students. Women make up only 34 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Last fall, Dr. Wang was named interim provost for the State University of New York System. Earlier, she has served as vice chancellor for research and economic development. Previously, Dr. Wang was assistant director for engineering at the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Wang earned a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
