In Memoriam: Ahalya Krishman, 1931-2018

Ahalya Krishman, who served as professor of educational psychology at Youngstown State University in Ohio for more than 20 years, died late last month at Florida Waterman Hospital in Tavares. She was 87 years old.

Dr. Krishman was born in India and completed high school at the age of 14. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English and mathematics at Madras State University.

Dr. Krishman came to the United States to work as an economics assistant at the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C. She then worked as a statistical assistant at the World Bank before returning to the academic world for graduate study. She earned a master’s degree in guidance counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Kent State University in Ohio.

Dr. Krishman joined the faculty at Youngstown State University in Ohio in 1975. She retired in 1996 and moved to Florida.
