Yale University Scholar to Receive the $275,000 Ho-Am Prize

Hee OhHee Oh, the Abraham Robinson Professor of Mathematics at Yale University has been selected to receive the 2018 Ho-Am Prize for Science from the Ho-Am Foundation in Seoul, South Korea. The award is given to a person of Korean heritage for outstanding accomplishments in science. The foundation was established by Byung-chull Lee, the founder of Samsung.

Professor Oh will be honored for her work developing innovative methods to solve many longstanding problems in geometry and number theory. Dr. Oh will be honored at a ceremony in Seoul on June 1. She will receive a laureate diploma, a gold medal, and a cash prize equal to about $275,000.

A native of Gwangju, South Korea, Professor Oh earned a bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University in 1992. She went on to earn a Ph.D. at Yale University. Dr. Oh joined the faculty at Yale in 2013.
