Three Women Announce Their Retirements From Key Posts in Higher Education

Anne Sullivan, assistant dean for administrative affairs in the College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston has retired after a 37-year career at the university. Sullivan began her career at the university in 1980 as a counselor in the university-co-op work/study program. In 1985 she joined the College of Health Sciences as director of student services.

Sullivan has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Northeastern University.

Beverly Ledbetter, who has served as general counsel at Brown University in Providence Rhode Island, for the past 40 years has announced that she will retire at the end of the academic year. In 1978, she was appointed the university’s inaugural general counsel and has served as Brown’s chief legal officer ever since.

Ledbetter is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in chemistry. She earned a juris doctorate at the University of Colorado Law School.

Laurie Jordan, who has served as chaplain at Middlebury College in Vermont for the past 22 years, announced that she will retire on June 30. She became chaplain in 1998 after serving at several churches in New York State.

Jordan, a native of Oneida, New York, is a 1879 graduate of Middlebury College. She went on to earn at master’s degree at Yale Divinity School.
