Nina LaCour of Hamline University Wins Award for Best Young Adult Novel

Nina LaCour, who teaches in the master of fine arts degree program in creative writing at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, was named the recipient of the 2018 Michael L. Prinzt Literary Award from the American Library Association. The award honors the best book written for teenagers. The award is based solely on literary merit.

LaCour was honored for her book We Are Okay (Dutton Books, 2017), which examines how teenagers cope with loss and grief. The book was LaCour’s fourth novel for young adults.

LaCour holds a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from Mills College in Oakland, California.
