New Roles for Five Women Faculty Members in Academia

Tracy Boyer was named to the Lynde B. Uihlein Chair in Water Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Since 2003, she has been on the faculty in the department of agricultural economics at Oklahoma State University.

Professor Boyer is a graduate of Stanford University in California, where she majored in international relations. She holds a master of public affairs degree and a Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Minnesota.

Elizabeth Klarich, a Latin American archaeologist specializing in Andean prehistory, with a regional focus on the Lake Titicaca Basin of Peru and Bolivia, was promoted to full professor at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She joined the faculty at Smith College in 2009 after teaching at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Klarich is a graduate of the University of Chicago. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Romie de Guise-Langlois is a new assistant professor of clarinet and director of the clarinet studio at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has served on the faculty at Kean University and Montclair State University, both in New Jersey.

A native of Montreal, de Guise-Langlois is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal and the Yale School of Music.

Kammie Takahashi was promoted to associate professor of religion studies and associate professor of Asian studies at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was also granted tenure.

Dr. Takahashi is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Tibetan and Chinese Buddhist studies from the University of Virginia.

Grace Ledbetter was promoted to full professor at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She holds a joint appointment in Classics and philosophy. She is the author of Poetics Before Plato: Interpretation and Authority in Early Greek Theories of Poetry (Princeton University Press, 2002).

Professor Ledbetter is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Virginia, and a Ph. D. in Classics from Cornell University.
