In Memoriam: Eleanor Killam, 1933-2018

Eleanor Killam, professor emerita of mathematics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, died earlier this year in Amherst. She was 84 years old.

A native of Whitefield, New Hampshire, Dr. Killam was valedictorian of her high school class. She earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of New Hampshire as the top student in the College of Technology. She went on to earn a master’s degree at the University of New Hampshire and a Ph.D. at Yale University.

Dr. Killam joined the mathematics faculty at the University of Massachusetts in 1960. She taught there for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
