Amy Wildermuth Will Be the Next Leader of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law

The University of Pittsburgh has announced the appointment of Amy J. Wildermuth as the next dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She will take office on July 1.

In accepting the post, Professor Wildermuth said that “the faculty of Pitt Law are known for their important contributions to both legal education and scholarship. Its graduates have earned wide praise for being high quality and practice-ready lawyers from the moment they begin their careers. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding place and look forward to working with the entire Pitt community as we begin the next exciting chapter in the law school’s history.”

Professor Wildermuth currently serves as associate vice president for faculty and academic affairs at the University of Utah. Earlier, she was the university’s chief sustainability officer and a professor in the university’s College of Law. Before joining the faculty at the University of Utah, Professor Wildermuth clerked for Justice John Paul Stevens at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Professor Wildermuth is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where she double majored in engineering and history. She holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering and a juris doctorate from the University of Illinois.
