Three Women Scholars Appointed to Dean Positions at Major Universities

Gayle A. Brazeau has been selected as the next dean of the School of Pharmacy at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She will take office on May 12. Dr. Brazeau is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences and the former dean of the University of New England College of Pharmacy in Portland, Maine. Earlier in her career, Dr. Brazeau served on the faculty at the University at Buffalo, the University of Florida, and the University of Houston.

Dr. Brazeau holds bachelor’s and master’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Toledo in Ohio. She earned a doctoral degree in pharmaceutics from the University at Buffalo.

Nancy Fahrenwald will be the next dean of the College of Nursing at Texas A&M University, effective June 1. Since 2013, Dr. Fahrenwald has served as dean of the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University. She joined the faculty at the South Dakota State University nursing school in 1995 after serving in the Peace Corps in Malawi.

Dr. Fahrenwald is a graduate of South Dakota State University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Portland in Oregon and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Nebraska.

Rachel Dunifon was appointed interim dean of the New York State College of Human Ecology at Cornell University.  Professor Duniform joined the faculty at Cornell in 2001 and has been serving as senior associate dean. She is a professor of policy analysis and management.

Professor Dunifon is a graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina. She holds a Ph.D. in human development and social policy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
