Sheryl Kubiak Will Be the Next Dean of the Wayne State University School of Social Work

Sheryl KubiakWayne State University has announced that Sheryl Kubiak will become dean of the School of Social Work on June 30. Since 2006, Dr. Kubiak has served on the faculty at Michigan State University. Earlier, she was an assistant professor at the Wayne State University School of Social Work from 2002 to 2006.

“I am thrilled to return to Wayne State,” Dr. Kubiak said. “I look forward to working with faculty and staff to build upon the strong legacy and rich history that the School of Social Work has within Detroit and across Michigan.”

Dr. Kubiak’s research is focused on intersections between criminal/legal systems and behavioral health. She is currently the principal investigator for a grant program that helps prison inmates who have had opioid addictions return to society after serving their terms.

Dr. Kubiak is a graduate of Madonna University in Lavonia, Michigan. She holds a master of social work degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Michigan.
