In Memoriam: Adele Pack Boyd, 1932-2018

Adele BoydAdele Boyd, a longtime coach and educator at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, died on January 27 at Abington Hospital in Pennsylvania. She was 85 years old and had suffered from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

A native of Glenside, Pennsylvania, Boyd graduated from Ursinus College in 1953. She went on to earn a master’s degree in education from Temple University in Philadelphia.

After teaching English and physical education at a local high school, Boyd joined the faculty at Ursinus College in 1967 as a professor of exercise and sports science. In 1972, Boyd was named head field hockey coach and had 16 winning seasons in her 17 years in the post. She remained employed at the college for 34 years as a professor, coach, and deputy athletic director. Boyd retired in 2001.
