Katherine Cochran Appointed Editor of The Southern Quarterly

Katherine CochranKatherine Cochran, associate professor of English at the University of Southern Mississippi, has been named editor of The Southern Quarterly. The journal, housed at the University of Southern Mississippi, was founded in 1962. It focuses on the interdisciplinary study of southern culture.

In accepting the appointment, Dr. Cochran said: “It’s an honor to be named editor of The Southern Quarterly, which has been an important venue for significant work in southern studies for so long. The university has proven its commitment to supporting the Quarterly since its inception, and I look forward to continuing the journal’s commitment to excellence in the future.”

Dr. Cochran joined the faculty at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2008. Her research focuses on southern and American literature, literature and composition pedagogy, adolescent literature, and popular culture, among other areas.

Dr. Cochran is a graduate of the University of Richmond in Virginia. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi.
