Vanderbilt’s Nancy Brown Honored by the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine

Nancy BrownNancy Brown, the Hugh Jackson Morgan Professor and chair of the department of medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, has been selected to receive the 2018 Robert H. Williams MD, Distinguished Chair of Medicine Award from the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine. The award recognizes a physician who has demonstrated outstanding leadership as a chair of a department of internal medicine at a medical school. Dr. Brown will be honored at the organization’s annual meeting in San Antonio in March.

Dr. Brown first joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 1992. She is a specialist in vascular biology and hypertension. Dr. Brown was named chief of clinical pharmacology in January 2009 and appointed chair of the department of medicine in 2010. She is the first woman to chair the department of medicine at Vanderbilt.

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where she majored in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. She earned her medical degree at Harvard University.
