Three Women Professors Have Been Appointed to Named Chairs

Suzanne Brenner, a professor of mathematics at Louisiana State University, has been named a Boyd Professor, the highest and most prestigious rank at the university. Dr. Brenner also serves as associate director for academic affairs at the university’s Center for Computation and Technology. She joined the faculty in 2006 after teaching at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Brenner holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

Julie Ann Sosa was appointed to the Leon Goldman, MD, Distinguished Professorship in Surgery and chair of the department of surgery at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, effective April 1. She has been serving as a professor of surgery and professor of oncology at the Duke University School of Medicine in North Carolina.

Dr. Sosa is a native of Montreal but grew up in upstate New York. She is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey and earned a master’s degree at the University of Oxford in England. Professor Sosa holds a medical doctorate from Johns Hopkins University.

Stephanie Hendrith was named to the Ashland Inc. Endowed Professorship in Education at Murray State University in Kentucky. She is a lecturer in the College of Education and Human Services at the university.

Dr. Hendrith is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. She  holds a master’s degree in instructional design from Lipscombe University in Nashville and an educational doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.
