A Pair of Women Who Have Been Appointed Department Chairs at Major Universities

Asu Ozdaglar, the Joseph F. and Nancy P. Keithley Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was named chair of the department of electrical engineering and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has served as director of the Laboratory for Information Decision Systems and associate director of the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society.

Professor Ozdaglar is a graduate if Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, where she majored in electrical engineering. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.

Kelly Ann Kinney was appointed chair of the department of English at the University of Wyoming. She joined the faculty at the university in 2015 as an associate professor of English. Earlier she served for eight years on the faculty at Binghamton University of the State University of New York System.

Dr. Kinney is a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she double majored in English and political science. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a Ph.D. in English from Ohio University.
