Tisa Mason Appointed the Tenth President of Fort Hays State University in Kansas

The Kansas Board of Regents has named Tisa Mason as the 10th president of Fort Hays State University. The university, located in Hays in the central part of the state, enrolls more than 12,000 undergraduate students and more than 2,500 graduate students. Women make up 60 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Mason has been serving as president of Valley City State University, a 1,500-student educational institution west of Fargo, North Dakota. She is a former vice president for student affairs at Fort Hays State University. Dr. Mason has also served as dean of student life at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and director of student life and assistant professor at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.

“I’m honored to accept the role of President at Fort Hays State University and once again join this outstanding community,” said Dr. Mason. “I’m excited to work with the students, faculty and staff of this leading forward-thinking, entrepreneurial university as together we position the university for even greater levels of achievement and innovation.”

Dr. Mason is a graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she majored in sociology and anthropology. She holds a master’s degree in education from Eastern Illinois University and an educational doctorate from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
