New Administrative Duties for 10 Women at American Colleges and Universities

Jessica Brumley was appointed vice president for facilities operations and planning at the University of Miami. She has been serving as vice president of facilities management at Nova Southeastern University. She joined the staff there in 2009.

Brumley is a 2001 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she majored in art and architecture.

Janet Bordwin was named director of the Career and Professional Development Center of the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She was the assistant director of career development at the university’s Isenberg School of Management.

Bordwin is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in higher education counseling from the University of Rochester in New York.

Maria Nicanor will be the next director of the Rice Design Alliance at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The alliance is the public engagement arm of the university’s School of Architecture and publishes the journal Cite. She was the director of the Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid. Earlier, she was the architecture and design curator at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

Nicanor holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Autonoma University in Madrid and a master’s degree in museum studies from New York University.

Andrea Gunn Eaton was appointed chief campus counsel at the University of California, Irvine. She was assistant vice chancellor and chief counsel for business and finance for the California State University System.

Eaton is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she majored in political science and international relations. She earned her law degree at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Shelley Jewell is the new director of the Education Abroad Office at the University of Wyoming. She was the director of Study Abroad at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Earlier, Jewell was assistant director of the Global Education Office at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Jewell is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, where she majored in international economics and sociology. She holds a master’s degree in international education policy management from Vanderbilt and is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Wyoming.

Zizi Fritz was named associate vice president for development at New Mexico State University. For the past three years, she was president and CEO of the YMCA of Central New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Fritz is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she majored in business administration.

Rachel Sullivant was appointed director of student programs for the Center for Retailing Excellence of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Before joining the staff at the university, Sullivant worked for Soderquist Leadership, a consulting organization.

Sullivant is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she majored in finance. She holds an MBA in international business from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Lydia Prado was named director of community partnerships for the Barton Institute for Philanthropy and Social Enterprise at the University of Denver, effective January 1. She has served as an adjunct professor for the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the university.

Dr. Prado, who holds a doctorate from the University of Denver, currently is vice president of strategic community partnerships for the Mental Health Center of Denver.

Jamie Sprague, was promoted to associate vice president for human resources at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. She has been on the university’s staff since 2012, most recently as associate director of human resources.

Sprague holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education history and sociology and a master’s degree in secondary education history from the University of West Alabama.

Maura Larkin Ivanick, was named interim director of advising and career services for the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University in New York. From 2011 to 2105, Ivanick was director of undergraduate services in the university’s School of Education.

Ivanick holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and French and a master’s degree in multicultural education and counseling from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.
