Meredith College to Offers a New Master’s Degree Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology

Meredith College for women in Raleigh, North Carolina, has announced that beginning in the fall of 2018, the educational institution will offer a master’s degree program in industrial/organizational psychology. The field of industrial organizational psychology seeks to understand employee behavior in workplace settings and to help organizations function more smoothly in quickly changing work environments. The master’s degree program is spaced over two years and culminates in a full-time internship.

The curriculum will include courses in social psychology, psychological testing and evaluation, a three-part series on advanced statistical methods and research design, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, and other courses in the MBA program at Meredith College.

Cynthia Edwards, chair of the psychology department at Meredith College states that the “graduate program in industrial/organizational psychology at Meredith is built on a scientist-practitioner model with the goal of producing students who want to enter directly into the workforce. Meredith’s location near Research Triangle Park gives our graduates access to a range of corporations and research facilities that hire industrial/organizational psychology professionals.”

Dr. Edwards joined the faculty at Meredith College in 1991. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
