In Memoriam: Susan Klem Jackson

Susan JacksonSusan Jackson, associate professor of French and assistant provost for general education at Boston University, died earlier this summer.

Dr. Jackson began teaching at Boston University in 1982 as a lecturer in French. She was named an assistant professor in 1985 and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 1991. In 1994, Dr. Jackson was named associate dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. She joined the provost’s office in 2016.

Dr. Jackson’s research focused on the literature and philosophy of eighteenth-century France. She was the author of Rousseau’s Occasional Autobiographies (Ohio State University Press, 1992).

Dr. Jackson was the valedictorian of the Class of 1972 at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She earned a master’s degree at Middlebury College in Vermont and a Ph.D. at Ohio State University.
